Caf=E9 Business: Until recently, WACA managed the 'caf=E9' facility ourselves but we now re= nt the facility to a third party under licence which will enable us to give= notice when we are ready to begin the kitchen refurbishment. This has ena= bled us to maintain the community caf=E9 service which is becoming very bus= y on several days a week when all the tables are full. The customer base i= s primarily the elderly and disabled and I believe we are providing a neces= sary community service where people can come and meet other people in a saf= e, warm and easily accessible environment whilst enjoying affordable meals = which some do on a daily basis. The eating area for the 'caf=E9' is in the= main corridor of the Community Centre which is not practical or particular= ly pleasant. Its limited use also restricts the financial viability of the= service we provide. In addition to the daily lunch-time trade, WACA CIO run a monthly Luncheon = Club and a disabled group, the Rocky Rollers, meet each week for lunch in o= ne of the rooms available for hire. When we provide this monthly service, we are unable to hire out the York Ro= om as an income generator.
